Dire warnings of devastating viruses are often hoaxes.

Check if the name of the virus is listed at Symantec Security Response (www.symantec.com/security_response) or Message Labs (www.messagelabs.com/intelligence.aspx) to see if it’s genuine and if so follow the advice recommended.

Is the site you’re shopping on secure?

Make sure the e-Store you´re buying from displays their secure site logo and that there´s a padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Without it, your credit card details could be copied. A secure shopping or banking site should have ‘https’ in the address line (across the top of the browser) instead of ‘http’ when you are putting in secure information.
