The Deputy First Minister for Regeneration, Leighton Andrews AM, officially launched the new Communities @One website (www.communitiesatone.org) at Communities @One funded project Merit in Merthyr.

The site has been built to include features such as a directory and forum following feedback received from members of Communities @One funded projects. Your feedback has enabled us to create a site which has been tailored to your requirements and includes features which benefit you and your project or groups aims directly.


If I can do it anyone can!

Rhyddwen Jones is the secretary of a local rugby club. Going to Megabytes in Aberfan and using the ICT equipment supported by a Learning Officer, has allowed her to develop her skills and produce literature for the club. She says if she can do it anyone can!

Paul Smithers is one of a growing number of pensioners who have discovered that they can learn new IT skills thanks to the Communities@One initiative.

MERIT provides facilities for the whole community

Merit is made up of a number of existing group members who operate on a peer to peer basis to develop the ICT skills of members from the surrounding community. The project funded by Communities @One includes the employment of a Coordinator to open, manage and support the running of various classes including computer rebuilding and maintenance, digital photography and an internet drop in facility.

The new Communities @One website offers advice and information to community groups, and provides a place for Communities @One funded projects to network, find other projects with similar interests in their area and share good practice and ideas. It is a hub of information where you can find out the latest digital inclusion news as well as helpful toolkits and tips which you can use within your own project.
